Has anyone else had this problem?

" camshaft pos. sens. circut error "

Called a dealer, $300. to fix, plus tow,, (it's not running right & probably won't make it there).

The sensor is a $50. part & sounds easy to change, but I've been told it may not be the sensor,
could be a bad wire, or PCM ??? Has anyone else had this problem? Confused

Wasn't expecting electrical problems @ 56k Has anyone else had this problem? Kopfschuettel

It is pretty easy to get to the Cam sensor. It is behind the Power steering Reservoir.
I wouldn't think it would be a PCM or wiring problem. I would start with the Sensor before paying the stealership to work on your car

Changed the sensor ($20) did not fix,,, Guess I'm gonna take it somewhere and have it hooked up to a computer, all I have is a hand held tunner, that's how I read the code.

I wish I lived closer to help you out. I'd be very surprised if it is some type of electrical problem. It has to be something very simple

Well, took it to the dealer. affraid WOW not cheap! I usualy do all my own work and can't remember the last time I've been to a shop (other than getting my gears installed recently). They to hooked it up to their comp.($90.) found a bad wire going to the sensor, (wasn't the problem $35.) then did a drive test, and said the alternator is droping voltage @ different rpm's & has a bad diode. So, they wanted to put one on, but, I didn't have enough $$$ at that point, total=$230. I've been seeing on the net., lots of problems with stang alternators. So on payday I'm gonna get one (over $200.) Hopefuly they're right! I was already wondering about it, because it's noisy, and occasional noises in the speakers, so I had had it checked before I went to the dealer. It was putting out 15amps, but the dealer told me the parts store can only check for output, not fully test.

Well, turns out it was the alternator. $220. Engine light not on, starts & runs good again... Very Happy
