Onondaga Update

The owner of the dragway Ray Comer has applied for a special use permit, any support would be welcome to keep things going for the old strip. The public hearing is 3/2/10 at Onondaga Township Hall 7:30pm.

Forwarded to the Charlotte Cruisers club too, they have a big interest also.

Good luck to them, I may be able to make it there on the 2nd. It would be nice if some of those who have been against it in Onondaga to loosen up a bit and let something come back to the area that would actually help their economy.

If anyone else can go from around here it would be great, this is one thing really worth supporting since there is not a track within 1 1/2 hours from here!

No, I have to work which is really disappointing to me. I would love to go and show my support. It's in our backyard how could we not show some support for a place to have fun.

The township hall's address is 4756 Baldwin Rd (just behind the Onondaga post office). For who ever is going, we could meet there. Getting there from Eaton Rapids is fairly easy. Just take M-50/M-99 south through Eaton Rapids, turn left at Bellevue Hwy and follow that to Onondaga (it becomes Bellevue Rd) until you see Baldwin Rd on the right. The town hall is right there behind the post office. I would plan on getting there at least 15 min early, meeting starts at 7:30pm tonight. It sounds like the "neighbors" of the track are in opposition, I spoke with someone from the area there and they were excited to here of the tracks possibility of coming back.

It was unanimous...................the Onondaga Raceway got it's special permit! Onondaga Raceway is back! It will be an 1/8 mile track that will run on Saturdays. Now they will develop the grounds for public racing. Brian, Brad, Randy, and Glenn all contributed with comments toward the cause. Nice to see the old place come back, I didn't think it would ever happen.

This is not a done deal. I spoke with someone at the Onondaga Township office and she said that: there was a problem with how the process of getting it to the board that was handle incorrectly and there would be another planning comission meeting and the township board would take up weather to approve the permit on the 8th of april. Let anyone you can know about this date as we need to fill this place again.
