Cold Air intake
Seriously considering having a Ford Racing Cold Air Intake installed. Like the way it's designed to fit under the hood and that it's Ford designed . Any reactions ? Good , bad ? What do you guys suggest ? I was interested in the Roush , but it wasn't on Moss Muscle's web site the other day.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Cold Air intake
There is virtually no real gain in Hp although you may notice a little better sounding throttle response. Unless you want it for looks, use a drop in K&N. No one can argue with the second type of cool.
Re: Cold Air intake
The Ford Racing CAI is a good piece,I believe Randy (with the '09 'vert) uses one. I know he is pleased with it. The K&N will be a cheaper way to go, but if you want to go for looks, the Ford Racing CAI looks good too.

Re: Cold Air intake
Sounds like none of you are really endorsing adding any cold air intake... Am I right ?

Re: Cold Air intake
The only way you may notice any real increase in power is if you get a tuner for it too. As far as sound is concerned I didn't really notice a differance in sound with mine.

Re: Cold Air intake
Okay , so guess I'm not adding a CAI . What would be a worthwhile upgrade ? New exhaust ? American Muscle has some on sale right now....Thanks for the info. I do appreciate it.

Re: Cold Air intake
Exhaust, Gear etc..
I don't want to completely discourage a CAI but don't expect the 10-25rwhp like they claim. You will have a little better gain than someone like 96-04 but nothing in the way of HP that would make it worth it to me. For looks is completely different though. Although I wouldn't choose the FRPP for looks, something like BBK or better would look great.

Re: Cold Air intake
If you want some thing that is going to give your car some attitude... Then go with the exhaust... But if your more concerned with performance right now then go with some gears... I still recommend getting a tuner as it will help you get the most out of any upgrade you make...

Re: Cold Air intake
IMO, a rear gear change, and aluminum driveshaft. You will notice a difference in acceleration with both of these mods.

LOL! I think I'll just have to you all check her over on the April 30th Cruise and tell me any/all ideas you have about mods that are worth doing and make a list ! I have to warn you , tho.. I know it's sacreligous , but she's an automatic. My knee started to go when I had a yes , stick shift , front wheel drive minvan for 14 years , years ago. It never got stuck in any snow bank , but it did a job on my knee. Probably limits what can be modified..

Re: Cold Air intake
Your mods should also go hand n hand with how much money you are willing to spend, as it can get expensive very fast.

Re: Cold Air intake
They are generally older than the 4.6 section. Nature of the beast since the older the car is the cheaper they are to buy.

Re: Cold Air intake
The bigger threads are almost overwhelming ! I'm not sure I want to rebuild my baby ! I swear some of those cars hardly have anything orignal on them ! Is indecision a decision ?
