Guys, I have a dilema Empty Guys, I have a dilema

alright, so my sisters boyfriend drive a stock 98' Mustang Gt. Well my sister called me yesturday and told me it was smoking and all type of stuff so i was asking her just the basic questions of where it was leaking and all that. Without seeing it i am taking it as a blown head gasket, because he said it wasn't leaking off the manifold or anywhere but at the head. So basically what i'm asking is. Would anyone be willing to help

On the non PI engine, how long do you think a head gasket would take? I've never done one and wanted to learn and with your guy's help i'm sure it would be a breeze compared to that. Plus, he doen'st really have the money to take it to a shop. I don't know what his time frame is as to how long he can go without it but i wanted to throw a heads up out to see if this was something we may be able to tackle as a club.

Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it.

Did he happen to see if the temp was spiking, then dropping, spiking/dropping, etc.? Gotta make sure he didn't peg the temp, the heads may have warpped. My T-bird suffered from the same prob.

good new good news...well i hope. Car got here yesturday and from what i can tell it looks like the intake cracked or the gasket blew out. THere wasn't any smoke in the exhuast or anything like that but there was smoke from the coolants rolling up over the valve cover then down onto the exhaust.

If it was a cracked head, there wouldn't be coolant on the fuel rails or the vave covers right. Set me straight if i am wrong but i'm thinking it's not the head

from what i under stand if a head is cracked then you might have a pool of oil or coolent if the water jacket was cracked, it all depends on where the damage is
