Lower control arms is where I would start. Maximum Motorsports has got the best setup for our cars.
If by "Suspension" you mean lowering the car, the best way to go would be H&R SS springs, Bilstein Shocks/Struts (or Mach1 Shocks and struts if you can find a set) & Maximum Motorsports Caster/Camber plates.

Re: suspension
yeah i was looking to lower it first but i will look into the lower control arms also i dont really know much about suspension. How much work is required to put in the new springs shocks/struts and caster camber plates?

Re: suspension
It's not all that difficult.. You will have to have the car re-aligned after you put the C/C plates in, but other than that it's nothing special. Just need a floor jack, some jack stands and a few tools.

Re: suspension
Then cut fox 4cyl springs up front and cut stock springs out back with foxbody shocks and struts of your choice. If you use lowering springs you won't be able to hook and if you use drag springs you won't be any lower. Or you can do like I did and just go coilovers all the way around. I used to cut 1.8 60' with coilovers up front and cut stock springs out back. Now I cut 1.4 60' with coilovers all the way around but I have alot more in my suspension then just springs and shocks.

Re: suspension
There are a lot of different companies that make coil overs for our cars, but unless you're really planning on putting some serious power down, or auto crossing, there is no point. Just get a set of good quality struts/shocks (Bilsteins/Tokico's) along with a good lowering or H&R race spring. For the amount of power you make you will hook fine with a sticky tire and a set of LCA's. My car has H&R Race springs with Iso's in, so it sits a little higher than most with race springs.
You should never cut stock springs (unless you're cutting a dead coil) , different portions of the coils have progressive spring rates and the ride will suck plus you have the added possibility of collapsing a spring and causing major damage to your car.

Re: suspension
Stock springs in the GT and in the Cobra are specific rate, the spring rate doesn't change at all. However cutting them is still not your best choice unless you can get someone like OxfordGT to do who knows what they're doing when making that kind of mod.

Re: suspension
Cutting springs any way you look at it is bad, there are so many coils in eack of them for a reason and each one you cut out will weaken the integrity of the coil.

Re: suspension
+1 There is nothing wrong with cutting stock springs because they are not progressive. Some aftermarket lowering springs can not be cut and all 05+ stock springs can not be cut. I rode on cut springs for over a year with no change in ride quality and not a single problem.Krutch21 wrote:Stock springs in the GT and in the Cobra are specific rate, the spring rate doesn't change at all. Re: suspension
Cutting coils out does not weaken the spring the only thing that does is heating them like alot of old schools guys use to do.Ruffnuts wrote:Cutting springs any way you look at it is bad, there are so many coils in eack of them for a reason and each one you cut out will weaken the integrity of the coil.

I'm probably going to go with some SS springs here in the next month or so (when we get back from Gatlinburg) so if you want drag springs I could probably give you a pretty good deal on mine.

They won't fail. I have been building mustangs since before you ever heard of mustangs and have been cutting springs longer then that. Never once have I seen springs fail or sag from cutting them.

Good for you, I still wouldn't do it. :*blahblah*:

Re: suspension
Cutting the rear springs is the only right way to do it if you want to lower your car and still be able to hook.
