Mustang Production Plants comes to a halt!!!
Ford has announced it plans to halt production at 10 of its plants by an additional week. According to reports, this will impact the production of the Mustang, in addition to the Taurus, Focus, Explorer, and Ranger. What's normally a two-week shut down will extend an additional week, with production resuming on January 12, 2009. So yes, gas is finally dirt cheap again, but the companies that make the cars appear to be running on financial fumes. I don't know how it will all net out, but one thing's for certain; times are changing and changing fast.

I actually see GM falling first. They make more money with their financing company GMAC than they do selling cars and GMAC is having a lot of financial trouble. I really hope none of them fall though not only because the muscle car wars are finally starting up again, but thats a lot of lost jobs too.

You are aware that the Holding Co. that owns Chrysler owns 51% of GMAC.JStang314 wrote:I actually see GM falling first. So true, they think that the word "bankruptcy" will hurt consumer confidence in their product. It will end up being their last resort.

If they do file bankruptcy, this will be their chance to downplay the unions. All contract agreemnets go out the window with a bankruptcy..Danstang wrote:So true, they think that the word "bankruptcy" will hurt consumer confidence in their product. It will end up being their last resort.

Yeah, that's why the union is trying to avoid that!

There are also some contracts that state if sales fall below a certain mark they can be re-opened for negotiation.
