Re: Are you a newb? If so, please introduce yourself.
Hello, My name is Russ and I am in the process of buying a 1996 Cobra. I am paying $4,000 fo the car. Car is in excellent condition except that it has a knock that I believe is a rod. I have been a mechanic for 40 plus years and fixing is no problem. Thae car has Nitrous injection which most likely is the reason it is knocking.
I have the chance of buying a new block, crank, rods and pistons and the crank is a stroker with 12 1/2 to 1 comppression ratio for $3,000. The guy has $3900 in the new engine assy.
Am I getting in to deep money wise for this car? Or am I okay building the new engine and rebuilding the old one and selling either engine?
The car has 114,000 miles on it and the driver's seat has normal leather cracks but the rest of the inside looks like no one has ever sat in it. Would like a knowagable opinion on this project, as I have done nothing like this since I was a kid when I bought a new Cobra jet 427 in 1968. Wish I stil had that one LOL!!!!!
