Shocked Me and Shady drove out by the old Onodaga Dragway today. I don't know if it Shady's luck and being near a strip of asphalt and not going fast, but the cluch cable on my stang to a powder in the middle of nowhere. So ford has the old broke Mustang to fix and We wasted 3hrs for zip. Will post on the tatoo thread about track. :_lol_:

Cool Only the clutch gods know. I also have not torn into it so saying the clutch cable broke is just a guess. But this is what happened Left corner shifted 2nd at about 5100 and started a nice melow 3rd shift and did not notice that the clutch had a wierd feel. Trans would not go into third or any other gear. once I shut car off I put in first and when started it was still in gear. I could have started it in third and drove it home, but Ford still gets it old broke ass and I will get the ass. Not sure if shift cable is covered under warranty may be under same part of warranty as brake pads and belts.

Linkage issue I bet. Did the clutch pedal fell different? At least you've got the warranty still!

turns out it wasn't Randy's clutch cable... he called me yesterday and one of us had bad signal but it sounded like he said it was the master cylinder and the slave cylinder... i'm sure he will comment more on here when he gets back from the casino

I thought the newer mustangs where hydrolic clutch and thought it was strange he said clutch cable.

Cool As you thought Tim they are Hydraulic and now we have to wait for parts. The dealer did not call today so no parts yet. I want my car back so I can make an offer on the GT500 they have on the lot.

Well the saga continues. Ford finally pull it apart and says the clutch plate, Pressure plate and fly wheel are burn't up. Going to look at parts now.

Are they asking a reasonable price for the gt500? I know now you can find them under sticker at some dealers.

Cool The GT500 is only 46,000 something. it was driven by the owner of the dealership for less than 2000 miles. Most dealers are getting above sticker which is about 51,000.

I am getting a ceramic clutch built by Clutch Dynamics in lansing. Brad's recomondation. Will have less the $ 800.00 in the complete clutch replacement. Have learned lesson on clutches. If the clutch is the problem work on it yourself :*bonk(:

If I buy the Shelby I can't put the new furnace and Central Air Heat Pump in the house. Guess the house wins.

Why do you need a special built clutch. I wouldn't think a stock car would even warrent that type of clutch. For my $ I would have went with a proven Aftermarket Clutch ie. FRPP,SPEC,McLeod

Dealers are getting above sticker because people are idiots. Took me 5 minutes to find out that Varsity Ford in Michigan had 2 gt500s for 1000 below sticker, performance white and vista blue. Not sure if they still have them though. But it just goes to show that they are out there.

So are you just putting in a different clutch and keeping the stock flywheel?

Tim clutch dynamics has been around a long time and we have had a few members use their product and i know some other people who have and never had one complaint

If it can be resurfaced just do that. If you have to get a new one get a lighter weight one. just my .02

Cool Thanks for your .02. The special clutch if for durability and the cost is less than 400 for the whole kit. Plus the ceramic disc should mean less slippage. This time I will just have the flywheel resurfaced
