I just got the 7color underbody LED kit for my car. I tried looking up the laws on those but I can't really find anything solid, mostly just guesses and oppinions. I know red and blue are illegal in SC but is that only when you're driving, or when you're at a carshow too? What's weird is... if red and blue are illegal, then why are all the auto shops selling the basic kits in red and blue? Anybody got any ideas?

It's not illegal to sell them only to have them on while you're driving. You can have any color you want while you're parked. Also, other drivers cannot see the actual light bulb, neon, led etc., only the light that is given off. I hope that this helps.

So does that mean I can't have any color, say for instance green or purple, while I'm driving? I've seen cars with underbody kits turn on while driving. One was definitely green. And no, it was in town, NOT in a movie. :-)

No you can have any color other than blue or red on while you're driving as long as other drivers cannot see the source of the light. Blue and Red are only allowed on show and parked cars.

you may have a problem with cops not knowing the law also... michigan had the same laws as SC and i had a cop pull me over one time and give me crap until i told him what the law was, then he let me go on my way...

Well seeing as I'm a 23 year old girl with a flashy car in a small town... I'm used to being pulled over for no apparent reason. What is the world coming to if the police don't even know what the laws are??? X-[ But thanks. It's nice to have other mustang lovers on the lookout for me.

when those things were going out of style dan fought the laws a lot. after a few court dates he narrowed it down to amber and white are supposed to be the "legal" colors. they wont mess with you for those... but that was like 4 years ago so they may just pull anyone with them over
