I drove from Murfreesboro to Atlanta and filled up today. Looks like I topped 26 mpg this time. Previously I got 25 then 24. My return to Tennessee is planned for tomorrow.

My 5.0 drinks the gas....It needs a good tune to get decent mileage...that and me to keep my foot out of it!

Re: my miles per gallon thread.
I filled up in Manchester on the way home, since regular was 3.81 at the Raceway there. Apparently the fuel stop in GA didn't get the tank all the way full because it looked more like 23 mpg returning. Then again, I did pump a little extra because of the price. So I think it's safe to say I averaged 25 for the round trip. I'll know more when I go back to the same pump I used before heading south.

Re: my miles per gallon thread.
well, the 2.73's are half way in. i have set pinion depth and bearing preload. all thats left is carrier bearing pre load and lash.
i went ahead and rebuilt the posi clutch packs. so no more one wheel peels for me. 200,000 miles is enough for them. they are paper thin.

Re: my miles per gallon thread.
i still think i can break 9.0 seconds even with 2.73's.
the fact is the tune i am using is miserable to drive. i have to never get in it, and always think about the gas peddle.
2.73's will free me to enjoy driving it once more.
also a full quieter exhaust and the sway bar is going back in. might as well handle a little.

Re: my miles per gallon thread.
well the gears are in and quiet. it turns 1500 at 55 mph. i have to get a driven speedo gear for 2.73. it has the factory speedo gearset for the 3.08's.
ill post gas mileage tomorrow. i am tuning it for regular running. so there will be more in it if i lean it again. the downside of leaning it so much is the heat. the temps are high side of normal with the A/C on in highway driving, but in the city it overheats with the a/c on. so the regular running tune will be much cooler.

Re: my miles per gallon thread.
I think it's safe to say Too Slow gets almost 25 mpg highway. Depending on my driving style locally, anywhere from 17-19. My first tank on Green Go got about 20 mpg with the engine light on. Not bad for a lead-foot like mine.

Re: my miles per gallon thread.
well it used 6.59 gallons today with a regular tune. it just show how much the tune counts. so i reflashed it with the best bas mileage tune and report tomorrow.
economy today: 24.279 mpg.
about the same as 3.90 gears and an extreme lean tune.
so now it has the 2.73's and an extreme lean tune. it runs about 1700 rpm at 64 mph.

Re: my miles per gallon thread.
SUCCESS !!!
IT USED 5.272 GALLONS TODAY !!!!!
which equals 30.349 mpg!!!!!!
i realized something was wrong yesterday. i just changes my rear brakes and the driver's side was dragging. that and dropping the fuel pressure to 35psi seemed to work.
now that 30+mpg is here i am continuing the trek. i am adding the cmc plates back anyway. it will cost me about 7hp/7tq. if it yields mpg its worth it. the taller tires for the rear are going on. i never got around to putting them on.
also i am putting th factory MAF back on tonight and tuning for it. i want to see if the factory sensor is better/more accurate for low speed driving.
woo hoo
