2001 engine help! Empty 2001 engine help!

Post by Spartan Mustang Tue May 17, 2011 9:51 am

Hey folks! I am doing alittle background work on my 2001 Mustang. Unfortunately I purchased this vehicle through a bank after the previous owner fell delinquent on the loan and have no access to much info on the car. What I do know is that it is a Roush Stage 2 and has significant upgrades after those. What I dont know is that if the engine is an actual 4.6L that is normally on all roush models. I had the vehicle looked at last night and was told the engine appeared as a big block (this person mentioned maybe a 6.2). Is this possible in a 01 stang? The car has had alot of work done at Pauls High Performance in Jackson, but unfortunately I have to go through a registration history report though the DMV to get the records from Paul. Long story short........casting numbers for the block. Do you guys know where those are normally located on Ford engines? Thanks!

Post a picture up of your engine bay.Given that the 6.2L is a newer engine I doubt that it what is in your car. What made this person think it was a 6.2L or is it someone talking out there butt scratch Very Happy
I'm not saying someone didn't do a swap I just find it unlikely

I will do that (the pic)

The fella that looked over the car used to race professionally, and builds engines all the time. He now does video production work for versus and speed tv. So he is pretty knowledgeable, but personally I dont think its a 6.2 but will gladly buy everyone in this club a beer if it is.

Can a 6.2 actually fit between the fenders??? I mean I know a 5.4 will (2000 Cobra R). That really would be awsome to fit a 6.2 in there!!

scratch Yeah the 6.2 would be odd. Definitely would make sense to find out what Paul's did to this.

Casting numbers were usually around starter.. atleast on the old Windsors they were.. You should see a number like this: F65E 6015 CC

Also chances of that being a 6.2 is highly unlikely, maybe a 5.4..... But you can usually notice that something doesn't look right if it has a
5.4... the deck height on a 5.4 is like 10.4 inches vs. the 8.9 the 4.6 has... So the motor looks like its bulging out...
