Mustang January sales down 55%

This week Ford Motor Co. released sales figures for the month of January. In all, sales of the Ford Mustang were down more than 50 percent from last year. This January Ford sold 2,944 total Mustangs. In January of 2008 the company moved a total of 6,545. According to Ford, these figures were consistent with their planning assumptions. In a press release issued this week, Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, Sales and Marketing said, "During the last four months, retail demand appears to have stabilized, and the strength of our new products is a key reason we’re growing our share in these challenging market conditions." He added, "We expect new, recent and future fiscal and monetary actions to help improve conditions in the second half of the year." Let's just hope folks are holding out for the new 2010 Ford Mustang, set to hit dealerships this Spring.

Ford as a whole was down 40% for January (compared to GM's 45% down).
