Stroker kit assembly price difference, why?
If I where to get a stroker assembly what additional things would be needed to the block during assembly? I called two shops on prices for assembly and both shops said there's a higher price for the machining and assembly if I use a stroker kit. I did not ask them why.
Also, Those of you that have S/C and Stroker kits, was it worth it? How's the comparable Tq down low?
thanks,
Mike
btw, I never realized how much work and thought had to go into this BS. I almost miss my leaky 350's.

I'd just do the assembly myself. Not only does it save money, but I enjoy putting an engine together. I've done several starting when I was 17. OHC will be new territory for me, though.

I found out that for a stroker kit, extra machining of the block is necessary to make clearance for the stroker crank... at least in the 4.6

Correct. For the stroker kit to work on a 4.6 the deck (block) needs to be machined for clearence and wear.
As for stroking the motor and adding a S/C, that's what we are planning to do with Tyara's car. 5.1 stroker kit with S/C compatible internals. :*drive*:

This stupid car is starting to cost way more than it's worth...
Re: Stroker kit assembly price difference, why?
You're telling us! We bought Tyara's car for $4400 with all the go-fast goodies and look good parts we'll hit a total of around $15,000. But, it's well worth the fun.
