Hey guess i just got my 86 stang running again. I know for a fact there is nuthing wrong with the engine or water pump. Im having an cooling problem. On the interstate it stays around 190 which is great. Thats doing 75 - 80 mph with the a/c on. When im off the interstate in stop and go or just doing the speed limit it will get up to as high as 230 degrees. The motor is fine, it runs good. Its an 331 stoker motor by the way. I have an 2 core aluminum radiator, an electric 16 in puller and 2 12 in pushers on the front and an 180 degree thermostat. I feel its not getting enough airflow at normal driving but not sure. Should i up the thermostat to an 195 or what. guys with the foxes help me out here.

why are you running a Pusher and puller set up? I know that electric fans take a lot of energy to run so even though you have all those fans none of them are funning at full potential because they are not getting the amps they need. If it where my car I would pull the ones on the front off and only put on the best set of fans that are a puller. Just my .02 but your effort to cool your car is actually hurting you

your radiator may have some blocked pasages in it and at slower speeds dose not have enough cooling suface in use to keep it cool.just a thought had this problem with one of my mud trucks back in the day.or you may have bent fins on the rad or ac condensor blocking airflow.just somethings to check into.

How much radiator surface are the pusher fans blocking? They may be interupting airflow at higher speeds when cooling fans are all but ineffective anyway. Are you certain the timing is on the mark? You would be suprised how that can effect temp. I had an issue with my 69 Mach1 that the only way I could resolve was by using the cooling additive in my radiator. Can't remember the brand name, but it is an additive that went in the radiator that kept the temp down. A can of that did the trick. Just some points to consider.

well as you know the airflow is already restricted a-bit on those front ends. It was doing it worse before i added the pusher fans. I thought i had an 180 in it i found i had an 195. So i changed it to an 160 today. I didnt like this but i had one new one already so i figured i would try it. Ill have to try that stuff. Im pretty sure the timing is on. Ill have it checked but it fires up pretty fast and runs really smooth.

The Water Wetter is an additive that you add to your 50/50 mix. Stuff works great. It dropped my 351c from running close to 200 down to 180-185.
