5.4 is out and on the ground.
exhaust is finished.
motor goes in tomorrow morning.
upper intake had to be modified for my uses. EGR was removed and welded over for a throttle cable bracket.

Re: forged teksid
well motor is in finally. rain, rain go away.....
now its only bolts away form being done.
the turbo is sitting low and close enough to the engine where i think i can use the factory water tank. ill have to make steel hard coolant lines.

Re: forged teksid
i cant believe how much smaller and lighter this motor is than the 5.4 3v.
the car sits 3" higher in the front than it did. ill have to lower then front end. hope the nuts go low enough. 14" 200in/lb may be too tall.

Re: forged teksid
I have 14" 175lbs in the front. In this I still have another 3 inches I can lower it. Just don't have the tire clearance to do it.

Re: forged teksid
4" thick x 31" wide x 14" tall intercooler installed.
apparently 94-98 stangs can fit an intercooler that size with no modifications besides removing the air director partitions. it fits with zero space between the rear of the bumper and the A/C condenser. no hanging down like i've seen other intercoolers. not visible below where it should be.
no removing the bumper cover. just the two fasteners at the bottom of the bumper cover and slip it up in place.

Wish mine was that easy but i needed some cutting for it all to fit, but then again my intercooler is the size of a refridgerator

Re: forged teksid
it has what i call the 'bill fisher' 4v cooling mod. ill detail it later.
but full flow cooling is the basic idea. no bypass circuit like stockers. uses all stock parts. hose routing is my own creation.

I T....... L I V E S ! ! ! ! ! !!!!!!!!!!
little things to finish but it lives.
things to note:
4v's rev faster than 3v's. snappy closed to WOT.
the turbo looks cools spinning without a hat.

Re: forged teksid
if your interested in getting that big bulky bumper support out of blocking all the air going to the intercooler I can get you one of these. Plus you save a few lbs

Re: forged teksid
ive given it a little thought. i know it has to be altered for airflow for sure.
what i aill probably do is cut the center section out, box it and reweld it for a factory fit and no strength loss.
in other words it will have airflow through the middle and still be original the rest. i have access to stainless sheet of all sizes.

Re: forged teksid
i have 3 bolts left.
lower radiator hose to make
found an oil leak on the pan. if i cant tighten it ill have to remove it a fix it.
weld up exhaust pipe and mufler.
plumb the pressure line for the POV and wastegate.
add boost gauge and manual oil pressure gauge.

If your concerned about strength and protecting your engine in the event of a front end collision then you should upgrade to the tubular support. You will have to cut the hell out of the stock bumper support to free up the airflow. Thats why I had this made for my car.
