June 10th - Tuesday Night Street Legal Racing @ Union Hill

Time for some Tuesday Night Action at "Union Hill" gates open at 6:00pm with qualifying at 7:00pm. $5 admittance and $5 to race.

Clarksville group will meet at 5:30pm at K-Mart on Madison St off Exit 11 from Interstate 24..

i lost .35 in the 60' and .6 and 3 mph overall. i went with 104, 100, and 97 octane tunes instead of what i have been perfecting in the last month. additives in the fuel put me at 104+ octane range.


3V's do not like a lot of spark like 2v's. they use less and make more torque as a result. so the high octane tunes just killed torque.

so lesson learned. it doesnt take a load of high-tech octane and big tunes for these.

all i really had to do was tweak the stock tune a little from the 8.5 run.

1. leave stock a/f alone
2. program shifts below limits
3. optimize spark i small increments.


i was over-reving it. it ignored the 6000 rpm limit with the boosters. it couls have blown up. the tach read 6200. so it was a little higher.

Bill the 4.6 valves like to rev. Justin Burchman (?)(never was a great speller) was pulling over 7000 RPM's on a blown motor (stock bottom end...nothing forged) before he started experiencing valve float. He did finally blow a piston out the side after about a year and a half of drag racing. I figure I could safely run 6500 RPM's on the same engine without the blower. So far it has worked without any damage.

mine is a 5.4.

the rods cant handle rpms without bending.

Your 5.4 is not that far off from a 4.6 in terms of what it can and cant handle. 7k is the limit on the rods (stock) and valve train (stock) even a forged set and a good tuner will reccomend you stay at or under 7k since the powerband falls off over 6500. With my blower and tune my hp is maxed at 6000 but it doesnt fall off all the way up to the limiter which is set at 7k. For me the boost reads 7 pounds and 6000 and 421 hp and at 7000 it has 11 pounds and 419 hp. Everyone I have ever spoken with on the 3v says you can run those rpm's all day long.

please. the 4.165 stroke vs. 3.55 4.6 stroke is night and day.

a 5.4 piston velocity is as high as a formula one engine moving as 20k rpms.

it is a fact that stock rods are iffy and time limited at 6k for 04+.

the limits are less for 03 and earlier.
