I need to get out to one of these events. do they frown apon sliding or over powering corners?

Not at all.
I think everyone would get a chuckle out of that.
Just remember, when you slide off the track they black flag you and make you come in to pick the grass clods out of your suspension.

I thing David is talking about that Drifting Fad. and I'm almost positive they do not want you doing it I believe it is even in the rules "No Drifting"

wassnt talking about drifting this time lol.. didnt know how strict they were if they hear tire screeching if they would get upset as in your pushing too hard around corners

You can go to Gingerman for a test and tune night for $75. Usually an event on the weekend cost a couple of hundred dollars to do.
They say you need previous track experience but I have never been asked to prove I have any you need a helmet and be able to pass tech

...and not just any old motorcycle helmet.

An evening at Gingerman will give you a whole new perspective an your car's abilities.
