5.0 is coming back in 2010!!!

You have to go out of your way to find information like this. New Zealand website Stuff.co.nz is reporting that Ford will be using a 5.0L engine in the 2010 Mustang. The news stems from Ford looking for a more fuel efficient engine for the popular Ford Falcon which currently sports a 5.4L V8. No word yet on what the specs of the new 5.0L engine will be but one can assume the specs will be over shadowed by the fact Mustang owners will once again be able to buy the famed 5.0L Mustang, even if it isn’t the old pushrod engine we have come to love.

2010 is shaping up to be a very important year for the Ford Mustang. With stiff competition from Chevy and Dodge, Ford is feeling the pressure to get it right with the next redesign and the power will be one of the most important parts. We look forward to the redesign of the exterior and interior of the 2010 Mustang as it comes our way.

Even tho its in one of the S197's Sorry not a fan of them I like the new edge cars

It should be interesting to see what they will be able to do. I believe Saleen has actually made a few models already that have had a 302.

Hopefully they will unleash more power.... they did it with all these new ones!!!!

man its pretty nice i was watching a show on tv about the new cars with the new 302

it's too bad the 05-08 body style with a few minor modifications is coming back with it...I wish ford would get rid of that style.

but it's about darn time they brought back the 5.0

is this a modular motor or a pushrod? or a new style of engine? and does it actually have some power this time?

There will actually be 2 engines offered for the GT. The 4.6L 3v with 350bhp, and the 5.0L with 400+bhp. There is also word that the v6 will be downsized to a 3.5L, but it'll have 240-260bhp! so ford's finally whippin it into shape.

Why are you guys excited about a Displacement #? Comparing a 302 Pushrod with a 302 OHC makes no sense they are 2 totally different motors.
The only thing that matters to me is what happens when I hit the GO pedal :^drunk^:

i know the parnelli jones edition had a 5L but from what i understand is it was a bored out 4.6L

Ya I know there is that one. There are also two others they are called the H302 and H302SC. One is naturally aspirated and the other is supercharged.

cuz... the mustang is famous for the 5.0L. it doesnt matter if its a pushrod or modular, its the legend, and its going to live on! :*burnout*:

i have heard that... its expected that it will reach up to 400hp like that!

Yeah but whats the point they wont get any better mileage than the 400 HP V8?

to have a TT v6?!? lol thats the only thing i can come up with, but with the turbos all you have to do is up the boost and maje more power

It's true, the new 2010 Mustang will have the 4.6 3V again with some tweaks to the motor. A spy photo of a window sticker on a 2010 Mustang mule has revealed the same old 4.6-liter 3V V8 will be under the hood. Some Mustang fans will surely be dissapointed by this news as most were hoping for the return of the 5.0L motor. Even though it says 4.6L 3V V8 as the engine size, don’t think for a second Ford has not upped the horsepower to improve on the previous model. Personally the 2010 Mustang will see an increase in horsepower for the base Mustang GT somewhere in the nieghborhood of the Bullitt or Shelby GT (320 hp-330 hp).

If you look at history, a similar refresh took place from 1998-99 giving us new body panels, increase in horspower from 225 to 260 for basically the same motor and some other minor tweaks that included traction control.

Other options shown on the window sticker include 19″ wheels with 245/45 rubber, heated seats, dual climate control, glass roof and the next generation SYNC/DVD navigation which should be pretty sweet.
