I bought a mustang and the speedometer was disconnected and I want to hook it back up but dont know where its disconnected. Ive already taken the whole cluster out and tried to find a disconnected wire but didnt see one. Is there anywhere else it might be disconnected? Thanks

Yes, well I didn't look, but I had my mechanic look and install a new speed sensor because I thought that might be the problem but it's still stuck on 20mph not working. So there must be a disconnect wire somewhere.

what year car alot of the (dont yell at me guys)sn95 cars are prone to the gears in the speedo going bad inside the cluster so you may not have a unhooked wire.

It is a 97 Gt. Maybe that could be it. But if the gears were bad would it be stuck on 20mph or be all the way down like when the cars cut off.

This it what gets me, when I disconnect the battery cable, the needle drops. Then when I hook it back up and start the car it jumps back to 20mph and dosnt move. I do have a speed calibrator because I have 373 gears and wide tires. Could that have something to do with it? Maybe that came disconnected.

Where did the cluster come from? The GT's didn't come with white gauges. I had a 96 GT that I put the white gauges in and didn't pay attention to the needle placement to begin with and when I cranked my car up I was running 135 mph sitting in the driveway! Every car that I have put aftermarket gauges in has had an issue at some point. Take the cluster out and take the cover off, see if the needle is touching the gauge and correct it if it is. You may need to pull the needle off and reposition it if its jumping up to 20 mph without the car moving.....

These gauges were on the car when I bought it. I'll take it apart tomorrow and reset the needle. Check back tomorrow for an update. Thanks.

Also check your speed cal connection and calibration. Send speed cal an email and verify that the pins are in the right position for 373.

well, i took my cluster apart this evening and everything looked good except my odometer gear was broken, but my speedometer looked fine everything looked hooked up. I dont know what else to do. I havnt checked my speed cal yet, so ill do that tomorrow. I still think the previous owner disconnected it somewhere.
