junk car ordinance Empty junk car ordinance

How great is this? I was visited today by the township officials, who informed me that my unplated mustang was subject to be ticketed as a junk car, and it was to removed or put inside within 1 day. Now, I take care of my home as well as my car, and I have neighbors who do not. Isnt this a great use of the tax payers dollars? After being unemployed for 3 months, I took the plates and insurance off the car to save a few bucks, It was sitting outside while had some other projects going in the garage. Oh well, just felt like venting, its washed and back inside now.

Nice.

I wonder if you had just left the plates on and let them expire, if they would have ever noticed. Probably only got noticed because there was no plate.

Oh they notice even with the plate on. In my sub division there is this guy that goes around all day and checks to see if your car, in your drive way is registered. For awhile AJ and were carpooling to work cause we worked so close and had the same hours and this guy spotted that my car wasn't registered cause it sat in the drive way all day. So, I also receive a letter. From what I understand, in the city and maybe in the country (less likely to get caught in the country though) your car is considered either abandoned or non functional which means junk. Crazy stuff right there.... especially when someone is trying to save a dime by carpooling, unregistering it and not having insurance on it . That all adds up to a big chunk of change that you could be spending on something else.

My neighbor right next door to me has an old buick lesabre that does not run, it also has a Florida trailer plate on it and nothing has been said to him. I almost wonder if the guy was just on a power trip because it was my wife out in the yard and not me. I dont complain about my neighbors because we are always working on our cars, which are all loud, and I figure we probably bother them sometimes too.

Wow, kinda reminds me of the police here. The police here tagged mine for being an abandoned car (old plates), even though it was registered to the address. So I plated it and they towed me anyway (to a town 10 miles away). The officer didn't notice the new tags, the funny thing was she used to live in the same building! Needless to say they got my car towed back (after jumping through all their hoops).

i've actually had this happen and the neighbor said i had 2 junk vehicles in my driveway that did not run and that the night before i drove them around the block and parked them in different places... the officer looked confused when i asked him how i drove them around the block if they did not run...
