Weekend at Gratten Raceway
I went to an Open Track event at Gratten Raceway this weekend and all I can say what a Blast. If you ever get a chance to do an open event at a Race Circuit do it. It's hard on the car and tires but so worth it. It was a Porsche club that put the event on that I went to. I was able to keep up with the cars in my class. It is pretty big ego buster to have a corner worker wave the move over and let the person pass you flag at the Porsche in front of you. Yes I know I was beating the driver and not the car but it still felt good
Me catching a Porsche
Very next lap
This car was all Carbon Fiber
Carrera GT only about $332,000

I ran Grattan on Memorial Day this year with the Alfa Romeo Club. The track is great. I like it better than Gingerman. What was the Porsche Club charging for the event? AROC was charging $130.

Re: Weekend at Gratten Raceway
Porsche charged $290 but they did feed us a pretty good dinner on Saturday night. I wish I would have known about the Alfa Club thing.
That was my first time on the track. I liked the track but that jump was a little unsettling at first.
It's good to see other interest in Racing in the club. Maybe someday we can pull off a track day.

Evening test and tunes at Gingerman are fun and cheap. I went once this summer and there were only 9 cars there the whole night. $60 for three hours of track time was pretty nice.

Re: Weekend at Gratten Raceway
I plan on doing the Gingerman Test and tune given that is right up the road from me. But It says you have to have track experience to do it. so that is why I did the Grattan thing so I can get the experience and go out and have fun

that looks like an awesome time, if I could ever get my car driveable for more than a week at a time.

Re: Weekend at Gratten Raceway
You have to find a club that is holding an event at a track. I went with a Porsche club and they called their event a Driver Education Event so there was no official racing. Some clubs run their event differently but most will require you to go through a few sessions with an instructor before they let you go out buy yourself. But once you have the track experience you can usually go out buy yourself. All you really need to do is pass inspection and have a helmet. And it is rough on tires and brakesGearedRed6 wrote:wow, yea that does look fun, what are the standards to race? like could my car do that?
