L.E.D. Gauge Cluster
I got the idea from MixedBreed02GT : http://forums.wildhorsesclub.com/showthread.php?t=19986 , in the TN chapter!! thanks bro...
I just wanted to make a write up along the lines of what was done in the above thread for everyone!
Here is a the finished product! Ill do the write up later tonight..
After Going to: http://autolumination.com/74.htm and ordering 5 #74 bulbs in the color you want (red above) about $20 for all.
I started unbolting all screws and took out the gauge cluster:
Disconnected the 2 wire harnesses from the back of the cluster (red connector is pics):
Unbolt the front plastic piece that covers the gauges:
Very gently but firm, pry up the needles with a screw driver, as close as you can get to the center of the needle.
Once the needles are off gently pry up the gauge faceplate. ( I had to use a knife to break loose some of the glue underneath )
Once the faceplate is off ( on the backside ) push the stop pins back through the front "right side of pic"
I then used 400grit sandpaper and water to scrub off the blue/ green die that ford used on the backside of the faceplate:
I used plyers to get the socket out of the main board to put the new 3 led bulbs in:
Put the cover back on the unit and temp install in the car. Like MixedBreed I also had 2 Leds that went in wrong, just take them out and turn 180degrees:
Connect the wire harnesses and your DONE! Congrats..
