Shift kit install...how hard? Empty Shift kit install...how hard?

Post by Guest Mon Jul 13, 2009 10:23 am

My buddy just pcked up an '88 lx that's got an aod in it. And he's interested in doing gears/shift kit to wake it up a bit. I've put gears in once so I should be able to handle that. But never messed with shiftkits. How hard arethey to install? I take an auto trans class in the fall but we'd like to get this all hooked up before fall. Any tips or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

It's not that hard as long as you don't loose the bolts and you don't get trans fluid in your eye like I did when I installed one in my old auto. lol. If you're doing it in the car make sure the car is lifted enough comfortably extend your arm out.
