Underdrive pulleys
What's everyone's take on underdrive pulleys? Are the gains worth putting them on? How much will they affect the accessories? :^scratch^:

Re: Underdrive pulleys
Pullies are one of the best bang for your buck mods! They free up horsepower that Ford mistakenly left out.
They are a quick, cheap, and easy mod. Hell not only do they make HP but they also add bling factor.
As for the effect, I've heard of some people with charging issues. But the main reason for this is because the put all the pullies for every accessory that you can buy, then run these sick sub and amp systems. Or they use an old battery to be charged by an alternator that has been slowed down to a trickle charge, rather than a constant heavy flow.
IMO GET SOME PULLIES!!!

Re: Underdrive pulleys
dan i have underdrive pulleys and love them!!! the only issue i have had is charger issues while at an idle (sitting at a red light) as long as you have a decent battery this isn't a problem just my battery is just hence why i am buying a new one before she comes out of the garage...

Re: Underdrive pulleys
the pulley is a great bang for the buck.and if the alt is to much of a prob you can have it rewound for higher output at a lower speed right in charlotte.

Re: Underdrive pulleys
I don't think I'd have much of a problem, I don't need much in the way of a sound system. Who would do that work in Charlotte? I would consider it anyway.BRADTHEBLADE wrote:the pulley is a great bang for the buck.and if the alt is to much of a prob you can have it rewound for higher output at a lower speed right in charlotte.

Re: Underdrive pulleys
If you are trying to gain every last single drop of hp from your N/A motor and are not planing to s/c or turbo your car, then I say sure. In my opinion they are not worth it on my car. 8hp is not worth 150-200$. Thats the same reason why I'm not waisting my time with shorty headers. And CAI are in the same boat. Don't do much of anything. The main problem with our motors is they don't react well to n/a mods. And anyone that says they hit 300rwhp without cams is crazy. Thats what I would suggest saving for. Or a s/c of course.
Re: Underdrive pulleys
the starter and altinator shop up on lincoln by the green house place over by dornbos. its a little hole in the wall but they do good work, medium priced

I think it would be a great mod for your car. If you do any drag racing, it will help lower your cars ET by a 10th.

Re: Underdrive pulleys
I have had great luke w/pulleys! I you run a race crank pulley you must run a small alt. pulley for proper charging at low rpm. Otherwise you will have issue's :^drunk^:

:*agree*:
However, if you have cobra or a SC with a smaller than factory pulley for more boost, you must get a Bigger pulley for the Alt. so you don't overspin it and fry the alt out ( like I did :*bonk(: )
